Thank you, David MacDonald.

David MacDonald has tendered his resignation from the OCTRA Board of Directors and the position of OCTRA Vice President. David was elected to the OCTRA BOD as Vice President at the AGM in February 2018. During his time as VP, David organized the OCTRA 50th Anniversary Easy Fit Saddle Raffle which netted OCTRA $1,000. We thank David for his time and efforts. Wishing him all the best in his future
endeavours.

As a result of David’s resignation, current board member Deborah McBride has accepted the position of OCTRA Vice President. Rose Danko, long time past board member and the member with the next greatest number of votes at the February AGM, has agreed to rejoin the Board of Directors effective immediately. We thank Deborah and Rose for stepping up to the plate to fill the vacancies.

Assistant Webmaster Wanted.

To avoid the potential “hit by a bus” corporate crisis, OCTRA desires a second person to help manage the website. The qualified volunteer will have strong computer skills and some experience managing a WordPress website.

Basic knowledge of HTML is required. Knowledge of CSS is an advantage. Experience with PHP programming would be outstanding.

Ride & Tie Rules Update.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The OCTRA Board of Directors wishes to announce an update of
the Ride & Tie Rules. The Board would like to thank the Rules
Committee for their conscientious work which resulted in a fully
rounded out set of rules, which reflect what has already been
the established practice. The updated rules were approved by
the Board of Directors through a majority vote on May 25, 2019
and will be incorporated into the current OCTRA Rule Book as of
this date.

Please note that the OCTRA Provincial Championship Ride & Tie
for 2019 will take place at the Summers End Event on Saturday,
August 19, 2019.

New Year End Award For Gaited Horses.

Proposed and sponsored by Sherry Blenden, DVM, a new Gaited Horse Year End Award was approved by the board of directors on May 14, 2019. Many thanks to Sherry for recognizing that gaited horses are bred for distance, have a distinguished history in distance events, and deserve distinct recognition.
